My job, it seemed, was not to create, but to assemble. The work of empathy is often unglamorous. The design of a voting ballot can influence the outcome of an election. And then, a new and powerful form of visual information emerged, one that the print catalog could never have dreamed of: user-generated content. In addition to technical proficiency, learning to draw also requires cultivating a keen sense of observation and visual perception.
