The professional learns to not see this as a failure, but as a successful discovery of what doesn't work. We had to design a series of three posters for a film festival, but we were only allowed to use one typeface in one weight, two colors (black and one spot color), and only geometric shapes. The resulting visualizations are not clean, minimalist, computer-generated graphics. Up until that point, my design process, if I could even call it that, was a chaotic and intuitive dance with the blank page.
