So, when I think about the design manual now, my perspective is completely inverted. This ambitious project gave birth to the metric system. It is the generous act of solving a problem once so that others don't have to solve it again and again. Perhaps the most important process for me, however, has been learning to think with my hands. Users wanted more. The small images and minimal graphics were a necessity in the age of slow dial-up modems. Whether practiced by seasoned artists or aspiring novices, drawing continues to inspire, captivate, and connect people across cultures and generations. The file is most commonly delivered as a Portable Document Format (PDF), a format that has become the universal vessel for the printable. This is not necessarily a nefarious bargain—many users are happy to make this trade for a high-quality product—but it is a cost nonetheless.
